I did not know Ms Shane personally but as a young 20-something was deeply moved by her work after I saw it in a spa in Palo Alto. My then-boyfriend (now husband) bought me the print as a gift - it was my first piece of real artwork! Beautifully set with a mat and gold frame - it sits on my bedroom mantle to this day. I was looking for another Sybil Shane piece to complement it and came across this lovely online tribute to her. Sending my thoughts to her loved ones and those, like me, who will be forever changed by her gift.

I know it has been many years but I just learned of Sybil's passing 2 days ago. I met Sybil many years ago when I worked at Escott Place in Grass Valley. She came in one day and we talked for a long time. A few weeks latter she came to the store and handed me a beautify wrapped gift. Inside was a journal. Oh it is so beautiful and I treasure it. I moved to town a few years ago. I was walking by the store West Wind and thought of Sybil. I went inside and that is when I learned she had passed away. Such a gifted, wise and generous lady. I am honored to have met her and it goes without saying I treasure the journal she gave me. I wanted to share this little story with her family and friends who I know must miss her so much.
